Week 1 Fantasy Football News and Injuries (2026): Mahomes is back, Darnold is down, and the wire is open

    Published . Covers Sep 8 to Sep 15, 2026.

Week 1 gave fantasy managers the two stories they feared and one they hoped for. Patrick Mahomes started nine months after tearing his ACL and scored 22.7 PPR points, Sam Darnold left Seattle's opener with a hip injury that now has him out for week 2, and A.J. Brown went to injured reserve with a high ankle sprain that the Patriots say will cost him at least four games. Behind those headlines, 109 reports crossed the desk in seven days: 56 injuries, 39 players ruled out or placed on reserve, and 30 transactions. This edition puts every one of them beside what FF Beacon's values, box scores and projections say, in both Dynasty PPR SF and Redraft 1QB PPR, and ends with the waiver claims, holds and sells the week actually justifies.
