Week 1, part 1 of 5
Injuries and availability: Darnold, Brown, Bowers and Tua
The injury that matters most for the season is the quietest one on the box score. Sam Darnold scored 0.5 PPR points against New England before leaving with a hip injury, and the Seahawks ruled him out for the night at 9:36 PM Eastern on September 9. The next morning brought a CT scan that was inconclusive and an MRI, and by Thursday afternoon coach Mike Macdonald was calling the result really, really good news while still saying Darnold would miss the week 2 game at Arizona. Our check of ESPN's injury page on September 17 shows him listed as out for that game, with the injury now described as a glute. His value on FF Beacon barely moved because the report was good: 3,044 in Dynasty PPR SF, down 136 on the week, rank 84 at the position. In redraft he sits at 2,421, rank 144, which is a bench quarterback you hold rather than a starter you replace. The dynasty read is the same: this is a one-week absence on current information, not a reason to sell.
The ripple is Drew Lock, who came in for Darnold and finished with 12.8 PPR points on two carries and the rest through the air. Nobody moved more this week. His Dynasty PPR SF value rose 1,119 points to 1,138, the biggest seven-day rise on the site, although that still ranks him 213th at the position. The model projects 13.3 points at Arizona in week 2 with a 40 percent beat rate. In redraft superflex leagues he is a one-week start. In dynasty he is a speculative hold at the very end of a superflex bench and nothing more, because the number that jumped is the floor of a backup, not the ceiling of a starter.
A.J. Brown is the loss with a long tail. He was limping to the locker room in the first half of the Patriots' opener in Seattle, ruled out soon after, and by Thursday night an MRI confirmed a high ankle sprain with a timeline of at least four weeks. The Patriots placed him on injured reserve on Friday, which means a minimum of four missed games; ESPN's report as of September 17 puts the expected absence at about six weeks. The market reacted hard and in two different directions, which is the whole reason this edition carries two formats. His Redraft 1QB PPR value fell 2,257 points to 4,888, the sharpest redraft drop of the week, because six weeks is a third of a redraft season. His Dynasty PPR SF value fell 732 to 4,447 and he still ranks 49th among receivers in both formats. For a redraft manager with a shallow bench, Brown is a drop candidate only if the roster cannot carry an injured reserve slot; if the league has one, he goes there and the flex gets a waiver claim from the list at the end of this edition. For a dynasty manager, this is the buy window: a week 1 injury with a stated return puts the discount on the table at exactly the moment the seller is most frustrated. Our timeline block below places his expected return at week 5.
Brock Bowers is the story that changed under us during the week and is still changing. On Tuesday the report was a meniscus trim with a game or two missed. By Saturday it was a possible return as soon as week 2, and on Monday coach Klint Kubiak called him day to day. As of September 17, ESPN lists him as questionable for week 2 and the NFL's own report has him not practising on Thursday. His values dropped, 314 to 6,990 in Dynasty PPR SF and 861 to 6,345 in Redraft 1QB PPR, and he is still the 23rd and 27th ranked asset at his position. The model projects 7.5 points against the Chargers with a 42 percent beat rate, which is a projection built on a player who might not play. Hold in every format. A one-game knee scope is not a value event, and the redraft dip is the kind that recovers the first week he plays.
The beneficiary is Michael Mayer, whose role was expected to grow the moment Bowers went down. He scored 9.2 PPR points against Miami and his Redraft 1QB PPR value rose 883 points to 2,389. That figure is the whole case: he is a one-week streamer in redraft while Bowers sits and nothing in dynasty, where he ranks 211th. The model projects 1.8 points for him in week 2 precisely because it expects Bowers back.
In Atlanta, Tua Tagovailoa sustained an oblique injury in Thursday's practice, was ruled out for the opener in Pittsburgh on Friday, and as of September 17 is listed as questionable for week 2 after not practising Thursday. Cooper Rush started and scored 7.7 PPR points in a 20 to 13 loss. Rush's Dynasty PPR SF value rose 766 to 784, the fourth biggest rise on the site, and the model gives him 10.6 points against Carolina with a 20 percent beat rate. Neither quarterback is a start in a one-quarterback redraft league. In superflex dynasty, Tua at 1,977 is a hold at 119th, and Rush is a free agent you only pick up if your second quarterback slot is empty this week.
Two more names for the timeline. Kyler Murray suffered a concussion early in Minnesota's 39 to 22 win over Green Bay and was limited in practice on September 17 per the NFL report; his values did not move because the season is one game old. Ladd McConkey is day to day with a rib injury after 19.2 PPR points in a loss to Arizona, and did not practise Thursday per the NFL report. His values rose anyway, 261 in dynasty and 105 in redraft, because 19.2 is a WR1 line; he is a hold everywhere and a start if he is active. Jalen Coker rolled an ankle and called the boot precautionary; the NFL report lists him limited, which agrees.
The long-term injured reserve group rounds out the week: Malik Davis to injured reserve after hip surgery, rookie De'Zhaun Stribling out at least a month with a deltoid sprain and expected to land on reserve, Landon Dickerson to injured reserve with a knee injury for at least four games, and Myles Garrett to injured reserve after knee surgery.

Week 1, part 2 of 5
Contracts, signings and releases: Mayfield, Swift, Kraft and Mayer get paid
Four extensions landed inside the week and every one of them tells a dynasty manager something the box score cannot. Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers reached agreement on a three-year extension on September 8, later reported as three years and 165 million dollars. He then scored 11.6 PPR points in a 33 to 27 loss at Cincinnati. His Dynasty PPR SF value rose 287 to 4,049, rank 59 at quarterback, while his Redraft 1QB PPR value fell 188 to 2,703 because the game was ordinary. That split is the correct reading: a contract through 2029 removes the one risk a dynasty superflex owner carried, which was a starter with no team, and it changes nothing about this Sunday. The model projects 17.4 points against Cleveland in week 2 with a 41 percent beat rate, a start in superflex and a streamer in one-quarterback leagues.
D'Andre Swift signed a three-year, 33.75 million dollar extension with 27.5 million guaranteed on Thursday and then ran 18 times for 124 yards in Chicago's 59 to 37 win at Carolina, 32.4 PPR points and the fifth best running back score of the week. The redraft market moved first: his Redraft 1QB PPR value rose 754 to 5,856, rank 33 at the position, while dynasty rose a more measured 276 to 2,969, rank 87. Read the guarantee, not the total. 27.5 million guaranteed on a three-year deal is a team committing to a back for two seasons, so a dynasty manager who was waiting for Chicago to move on can stop waiting. In redraft he is a weekly RB2 with the Bears' offence behind him; the model projects 9.7 points against Minnesota, which is a fair week 2 number against a defence that just held Green Bay to 22.
Tucker Kraft and the Packers agreed a four-year, 75 million dollar extension worth up to 92 million with a 26.5 million signing bonus. He scored 9.5 PPR points at Minnesota and his values barely moved: 3,772 in Dynasty PPR SF (up 17, rank 64) and 4,065 in Redraft 1QB PPR (up 86, rank 66). The model projects 8.5 points against the Jets with a 64 percent beat rate, the highest beat rate of any player in this edition, which is the model's way of saying the floor is real. He is a hold in both formats and a start in redraft leagues that need a tight end this week.
Michael Mayer signed a three-year extension worth 45 million with 30 million guaranteed on Saturday, reported as the fourth largest tight end contract in the league at 15 million a year. Set beside his value it is the most interesting number of the week: 1,146 in Dynasty PPR SF, rank 211, for a player a franchise just paid like a top-four tight end. Either the market is wrong or the Raiders are, and with Bowers on the same roster the market's caution is easier to defend. Dynasty managers in deep leagues can hold him as the cheapest insured tight end in the game; nobody should pay for him.
The Lions restructured Amon-Ra St. Brown and Penei Sewell to create over 30 million dollars in cap space, which is a procedural move with one fantasy consequence: Amon-Ra St. Brown is not going anywhere, and after 28.7 PPR points on 10 catches and two scores against New Orleans his Dynasty PPR SF value sits at 8,553, the ninth ranked receiver, up 193 on the week.
Three quarterbacks did not get paid, and the reports are worth keeping. C.J. Stroud and the Texans agreed to wait until after the season; his Dynasty PPR SF value rose 596 to 4,935 anyway after 16.5 PPR points against Buffalo, rank 46. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have not held substantive extension talks; he scored 25.0 PPR points in a 41 to 23 win at Indianapolis and is the fourth ranked dynasty superflex asset on the site at 9,521. The model projects 20.4 points against New Orleans. Neither changes a lineup this week; both set up dynasty trade conversations in November, when the contract questions return.
On the legal side, Josh Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanour battery and criminal damage charges in Green Bay on Thursday, with the league monitoring and no timetable for discipline. He did not play in week 1. His Redraft 1QB PPR value rose 508 to 4,248, rank 62, which reads as the market pricing in a resolution rather than a suspension. We would not chase that until the league speaks.
Our check of ESPN's transaction wire on September 17 showed only later moves, so the week's transactions above stand as reported.

Week 1, part 3 of 5
Depth chart and role changes: Mahomes, Wentz, Rush and the Cardinals backfield
Patrick Mahomes was set to start Monday night nine months after tearing his ACL and LCL, and he did, in a 31 to 10 win over Denver. He scored 22.7 PPR points with seven carries, and the model projects 17.9 against Indianapolis in week 2 with a beat rate of exactly 50 percent. The market had already moved before he threw a pass: his Dynasty PPR SF value fell 900 points over the week to 7,324, the second biggest fall on the site, while his Redraft 1QB PPR value rose 308 to 3,698. A fall on the day a franchise quarterback returns healthy looks like a mistake and is not one. Dynasty values on FF Beacon price the whole career, and a 30-year-old quarterback coming off a reconstructed knee is a different asset from the one drafted in August whatever Monday's line said. Redraft prices the next 16 games, and those got better. A dynasty contender should be buying Mahomes from a rebuilder this week at rank 19, because the redraft market has already told you the player is back.
Kenneth Walker ran for 173 yards in his Chiefs debut, the most by any Kansas City player since Mahomes became the starter, and finished with 34.1 PPR points on 23 carries and three catches, the second best running back score of the week. His Redraft 1QB PPR value rose 607 to 8,005, rank 11, and his Dynasty PPR SF value rose 246 to 5,465, rank 38. The model projects 13.2 points against the Colts.
Kevin O'Connell had named Carson Wentz the backup and J.J. McCarthy third, so when Kyler Murray was concussed early against Green Bay it was Wentz who replaced him. Wentz scored 19.2 PPR points in the 39 to 22 win. His Dynasty PPR SF value rose 709 to 1,179, the fifth biggest rise of the week, and the model projects 16.2 against Chicago with a 27 percent beat rate. Murray was limited in practice on Thursday per the NFL report, so this is a Sunday decision. Superflex managers with Murray should pick up Wentz as insurance this week if he is available; one-quarterback redraft managers should not start either until Minnesota names a starter.
Atlanta's decision was the opposite kind: made early and held. Cooper Rush was named the starter on Friday once Tua was ruled out, ending weeks of debate between Tagovailoa and Michael Penix Jr., then experienced back spasms on Saturday and started anyway with Jack Strand as the backup and Olamide Zaccheaus as the emergency quarterback, both Tagovailoa and Penix inactive. He scored 7.7 PPR points. This is a depth chart, not a quarterback controversy, and the values agree: Tua at 1,977 and Penix off the movers list entirely.
Arizona listed Tyler Allgeier as RB1 and Jeremiyah Love as RB2 on Tuesday's depth chart and then beat the Chargers 26 to 14; a listed RB1 who wins keeps the job another week. Malik Nabers went from questionable to active and scored 12.9 PPR points in the Giants' 28 to 20 win over Dallas, with his Redraft 1QB PPR value up 425 to 6,741, rank 22. Jaylen Waddle made his Denver debut and scored 1.2 PPR points in the loss at Kansas City; his Redraft 1QB PPR value fell 853 to 4,627 and he is now the redraft sell of the week for anyone who drafted him as a WR2, because the model still projects 8.2 points against Jacksonville and the market has not finished repricing him.

Week 1, part 4 of 5
The week 1 scoreboard: who scored, and whose value moved
The top scorer of the week was Caleb Williams with 37.3 PPR points, 269 passing yards, two touchdowns and 65 rushing yards in Chicago's 59 to 37 win at Carolina, and the market followed him up 797 points to 8,321 in Dynasty PPR SF, rank 11 at quarterback. Josh Allen was second at 35.7 on 334 yards, Bryce Young third at 32.4 on 361 yards and three scores in the same Carolina game, and rookie Jaxson Dart fourth at 26.6 with three touchdowns and 54 rushing yards against Dallas. Dart's Dynasty PPR SF value rose 813 to 7,216, rank 20, the second biggest rise of the week behind Drew Lock and the only one on the top-five list that belongs to a starter who will keep his job.
At running back the week belonged to volume. Derrick Henry led with 35.3 PPR points on 24 carries for 144 yards against Indianapolis. Kenneth Walker's 34.1 on 23 carries came next, then Jahmyr Gibbs at 33.6 on 29 carries and five catches against New Orleans, Ashton Jeanty at 32.7 on 23 carries and six catches in the Raiders' 27 to 13 win over Miami, and D'Andre Swift at 32.4. Jeanty's numbers are the ones to note for the trade market: his Redraft 1QB PPR value rose 867 to 7,935, rank 12, and his Dynasty PPR SF value rose 372 to 7,791, rank 14. Six catches for a rookie back in week 1 is the receiving role every dynasty owner was hoping for.
At receiver, Jalen Coker's 33.8 PPR points on eight catches from nine targets for 138 yards and two touchdowns led everyone, and his Redraft 1QB PPR value rose 811 to 3,493, rank 82. Christian Watson scored 32.7 on six catches for 147 yards and two scores in a losing effort at Minnesota, Justin Jefferson 31.2 on eight of nine targets and two scores in the same game, Amon-Ra St. Brown 28.7, and Chris Olave 28.2 on ten catches for 182 yards without a touchdown. At tight end, Isaiah Likely caught all eight targets for 78 yards and 27.8 PPR points for the Giants, ahead of Trey McBride at 24.5 and Dallas Goedert at 23.7. McBride's Dynasty PPR SF value rose 414 to 6,650, which makes him the 25th ranked asset at his position on the site.
The movers table tells the other half of the story. The five biggest Dynasty PPR SF fallers were Jaleel McLaughlin, who lost 1,366 points to sit at 41 after Cleveland's 34 to 10 loss at Jacksonville, Patrick Mahomes at minus 900, A.J. Brown at minus 732, Bijan Robinson at minus 669 to 9,331 even after 31.3 PPR points against Pittsburgh, and Jalen Hurts at minus 615 to 7,708 after Philadelphia's 24 to 22 escape against Washington. Robinson's fall alongside a 31-point game is the one to sit with: he remains the fifth ranked dynasty asset on the site, and a 669-point move on a good week is the market adjusting a very high price, not reacting to a bad one. The full up and down lists are in the chart below, and the toggle beside it shows the same names in redraft, where the order is different because a redraft manager only cares about the next sixteen weeks.
Week 1 top scorers by position

Week 1, part 5 of 5
What to do this week: claims, holds and sells
Every call here is tied to a report above and to a number on the site, and the action cards below carry the same names with a link to the tool that runs the decision.
Claim Drew Lock in redraft superflex leagues for one week. The report is Darnold ruled out and Macdonald saying he misses the Arizona game; the number is a 13.3-point projection with a 40 percent beat rate. Bid the minimum in a one-quarterback league or do not bid at all. Use the FAAB calculator with your roster loaded rather than the bid range on the card, because the right bid in a twelve-team superflex league is nothing like the right bid in a ten-team one-quarterback league.
Claim Carson Wentz if you roster Kyler Murray in a superflex league. The report is Murray's concussion and the NFL listing him limited on Thursday; the number is Wentz's 16.2-point projection against Chicago and 19.2 PPR points already on the board. If Murray clears, drop Wentz on Sunday morning and you have lost nothing.
Claim Michael Mayer only as a one-week tight end in redraft, and only if Bowers is out. The report is Bowers day to day; the number is 9.2 PPR points last week against a 1.8-point projection this week, and that projection is the site telling you it expects Bowers to play. Check the Friday report before you set the lineup, and use Who Should I Start to compare him against your current tight end with the week 2 matchup applied.
Claim Jalen Coker in every redraft league where he is available. The report is a precautionary boot and no missed time expected, confirmed as limited practice on Thursday; the number is 33.8 PPR points on nine targets and a redraft value that rose 811 in a week. The projection of 8.5 against Atlanta with a 51 percent beat rate is a flex number, and a flex number with WR1 upside is what week 2 waivers are for.
Hold Brock Bowers and Sam Darnold in every format, hold Tua Tagovailoa in superflex dynasty, and hold A.J. Brown in dynasty while moving him to an injured reserve slot in redraft. The Bowers and Darnold reports are one-week absences on the current wording. The Brown report is six weeks, and six weeks is exactly the window in which a dynasty buyer should be making offers, so if you are the seller, wait: the value that fell 732 recovers when he practises.
Buy Patrick Mahomes in dynasty if you are contending. The report is a healthy start nine months after the ACL; the number is a 900-point dynasty fall against a 308-point redraft rise, and that gap is the discount. Run the deal through the trade calculator with your league's format before you send it, because the calculator prices him in your scoring, not ours.
Sell Jaylen Waddle in redraft if anyone in your league still values him as a WR2. The report is his Denver debut; the number is 1.2 PPR points and a redraft value down 853. In dynasty, hold: his dynasty value moved only 126, which is the market saying the situation is the problem and the player is not.
Start D'Andre Swift and Kenneth Walker without hesitation, start Baker Mayfield in superflex, and do not start Cooper Rush anywhere; a 10.6-point projection with a 20 percent beat rate is a bench number with the word starter attached.

Week 1, questions people ask
Questions people ask
Is Sam Darnold going to play in week 2?
No, on the current reports. Coach Mike Macdonald said on September 10 that Darnold would miss the game at Arizona despite good news on the hip, and ESPN's injury page on September 17 lists him as out for that game. Drew Lock is the Seahawks' starter for week 2, and the model projects him for 13.3 points.
How long is A.J. Brown out?
The Patriots placed him on injured reserve on September 11 with a high ankle sprain, which means a minimum of four missed games. ESPN's report as of September 17 says about six weeks. FF Beacon's injury timeline places his expected return at week 5, and his Redraft 1QB PPR value fell 2,257 points on the news while his dynasty value fell 732.
Should I drop Brock Bowers?
No. He had a meniscus trim on September 8 and was called day to day by his coach on September 14, and he is listed as questionable for week 2. His Dynasty PPR SF value is 6,990 and he is still the 23rd ranked asset at his position. Michael Mayer is a one-week streamer in redraft only while Bowers sits.
Why did Patrick Mahomes' dynasty value fall when he came back healthy?
Because dynasty prices the whole career and redraft prices the next sixteen games. His Dynasty PPR SF value fell 900 to 7,324 over the week while his Redraft 1QB PPR value rose 308 to 3,698 after 22.7 PPR points against Denver. A 30-year-old quarterback nine months off a reconstructed knee is a different long-term asset from the one drafted in August, and the redraft market is telling you the short-term player is fine.
Who are the best week 2 waiver claims from the week 1 news?
Jalen Coker in every redraft league after 33.8 PPR points on nine targets and a precautionary boot; Drew Lock as a one-week superflex quarterback while Darnold sits; Carson Wentz as insurance for Kyler Murray owners in superflex; and Michael Mayer as a one-week tight end only if Bowers is ruled out on Friday. Run each through the FAAB calculator with your own roster before bidding.
