Stefon Diggs signs with Washington Commanders

Stefon Diggs, WR, Washington Commanders, officially signed a one-year deal worth up to $12 million, per Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport. The contract fills the biggest gap on Washington's roster heading into training camp.

Diggs spent last season with New England, catching 99 passes for 1,123 yards and five touchdowns across 21 games, including the Patriots' playoff run. That performance confirmed his torn ACL from the Houston season was behind him.

What this means for the Commanders' depth chart

Washington's WR2 spot behind Terry McLaurin, WR, was a real problem entering camp. The next options were Treylon Burks, Luke McCaffrey, and rookie Antonio Williams. Diggs changes that immediately. He slides in as the clear No. 2, and Jayden Daniels, QB, now has two receivers who can threaten a defense past the sticks.

The need was obvious last season. McLaurin missed seven games with a quad injury and Noah Brown missed 13 games. Washington had no answer at the position when either was out.

Fantasy outlook for Diggs in Washington

Diggs is entering his 12th NFL season on a one-year contract. He is not a WR1 gamble, but the profile here is a reliable WR2 or flex in most formats. The Commanders' offense under Daniels was functional last year even without consistent support at receiver. Add Diggs to that equation and the target share downstream looks real.

His catch-rate numbers from 2024 were historically good, second only to Michael Thomas' 2018 season by that measure. PPR managers should pay attention in drafts. He belongs in the conversation as a mid-round WR2.

Amos, Armstrong, and Way clear PUP

Separately, three Commanders came off the PUP list the same day. Trey Amos, CB, passed his physical after a fractured fibula ended his rookie season early. Dorance Armstrong, DE, cleared after tearing his ACL in Week 6 last season. Head coach Dan Quinn had described Armstrong as "super close" when camp opened. Tress Way, P, Washington's longest-tenured player, also passed his physical after a pectoral and biceps injury sidelined him.

None of these three moves have direct fantasy implications for most formats. Armstrong back on the field helps Washington's defensive line depth, which matters slightly for IDP or team defense owners, but that is the extent of it.
