Jaylin Noel activated from NFI list

Jaylin Noel, WR, Houston Texans, has been activated from the Non-Football Injury list, per Adam Schefter. Noel missed roughly 8 days of training camp after being placed on the NFI list July 28 with a finger injury he suffered just before camp opened.

Texans GM Nick Caserio confirmed the finger issue at the time. Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston called it a short-term matter and not a cause for concern, and the activation confirms that read.

What this means for his depth chart battle

Noel is a second-year receiver and return specialist entering his first full offseason push for a defined role. Nico Collins and Jayden Higgins are settled at the top of the Houston depth chart. Everyone else, including Noel, Xavier Hutchinson, Tank Dell (coming back from a 2024 knee injury), Lewis Bond, and Justin Watson, is chasing that No. 3 spot.

Missing 8 days in camp is a real setback when you are still trying to get on the field. Noel caught 26 passes for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2024 on a 6.3% target share, so he has ground to make up in terms of usage. Getting back on the practice field now at least stops the bleeding.

Roster considerations

Noel is a late-round flier in redraft formats at best right now. In dynasty leagues he is more interesting as a young receiver with return value and a path to more targets if Dell or another competitor struggles to stay healthy. His activation means you can monitor his camp reps again for any signs he is pulling ahead in that No. 3 competition.
