Browns Hire Ryan Grigson as Senior Football Advisor, Promote Chris Cooper
Browns Bolster Front Office with Grigson, Cooper Promotion
The Cleveland Browns have hired Ryan Grigson as Senior Football Advisor and promoted Chris Cooper to Senior Vice President of Football Administration, per Adam Schefter.
Grigson Background
This is actually Grigson's third stint with Cleveland. He worked as a Senior Personnel Executive in 2017 and returned as Senior Football Advisor from 2020-21 under GM Andrew Berry. Most recently he spent four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, serving as Senior VP of Player Personnel from 2022-24 before moving to Assistant General Manager in 2025. New Vikings GM Nolan Teasley offered him a role to stay, but Grigson chose to head back to Cleveland.
Grigson and Berry have history together. Grigson was GM of the Indianapolis Colts from 2012-16, and Berry was part of that Colts scouting department at the time. The pairing is familiar and comfortable, which likely explains the reunion.
Grigson is now in his 28th season in NFL front offices, dating back to a scouting role with the Rams in 1999.
Fantasy Football Angle
Straight up: this move does not affect any player's roster status, snap share, or usage. It is a pure organizational hire.
That said, the Browns as a whole are worth monitoring heading into 2025. A few things to keep on your radar:
