49ers Sign Punter Jack Bouwmeester, Place TE Khalil Dinkins on NFI List
The San Francisco 49ers made a pair of roster moves, signing undrafted rookie punter Jack Bouwmeester to a three-year deal worth just over $3.1 million and placing rookie tight end Khalil Dinkins on the Active/Non-Football Injury List.
Jack Bouwmeester, P
Bouwmeester is a 2026 UDFA out of the University of Texas by way of Michigan State and Utah. A native of Bendigo, Australia, he averaged 44.5 yards per punt on 59 attempts in his lone season at Texas, landing 23 inside the 20. His career college average across 213 punts was 43.8 yards.
He is competing with veteran Corliss Waitman for the job left open by the departure of Thomas Morstead. Waitman was the only punter on the field at OTAs while Bouwmeester's paperwork was still being finalized. No fantasy relevance here -- punters are not rostered in standard formats.
Khalil Dinkins, TE
Dinkins is a 2026 UDFA out of Penn State who put together a modest college career -- 37 catches for 399 yards and 7 touchdowns across five seasons. He measured in at 6'4", 251 lbs with a 4.72 40-yard dash.
The NFI designation means Dinkins suffered a non-football injury and cannot practice or play until he is medically cleared and activated. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed.
This is a significant blow to his already slim roster chances. He cannot participate in training camp or the preseason while on the list, which makes it very hard to compete for a spot. Before this designation, he was projected sixth on the 49ers depth chart behind George Kittle, Jake Tonges, Luke Farrell, Brayden Willis, and Hayden Rucci.
There was a thin argument for Dinkins as a deep sleeper given Kittle's recovery from a torn Achilles, but the NFI placement removes him from any near-term fantasy consideration. Kittle remains the only 49ers tight end worth monitoring for 2026 fantasy purposes.
