Packers Lock Up Isaiah McDuffie Through 2027
The Green Bay Packers announced a one-year contract extension for linebacker Isaiah McDuffie on July 9, 2026. Updated terms reported by ESPN's Jeff Fowler show the deal pays McDuffie $8.8 million over the next two years, plus up to $1 million in play-time incentives.
Contract Breakdown
- Total value over next two years: $8.8 million
- Play-time incentives: Up to $1 million
- Signing bonus (fully guaranteed): $1.5 million
- 2027 base salary: $2.9 million
- Roster bonus: $750,000 if on the roster on the third day of the 2027 league year
This extension adds one year on top of the 2026 year McDuffie already had remaining from a two-year, $8 million deal he signed in the spring of 2025.
2025 Season Recap
McDuffie had a solid 2025 campaign, recording 92 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 1 pass breakup across 17 games with 12 starts. He ranked 14th out of 87 eligible linebackers in passer rating allowed, making it arguably his best coverage season to date. He also logged 302 special teams snaps, accounting for 72% of Green Bay's total special teams work -- more than doubling his 2024 usage in that role.
Fantasy and IDP Outlook
McDuffie's fantasy relevance is minimal. The Packers are transitioning to a 3-4 defense under new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, a scheme that typically deploys two linebackers rather than three. Green Bay also traded for Zaire Franklin to pair alongside Edgerrin Cooper after Quay Walker departed in free agency. That leaves McDuffie as a rotational piece and core special teamer rather than a featured starter.
For IDP managers, his defensive snap share is likely to drop from the 45% he posted in 2025. He is best viewed as a streamer at most, and only if injuries hit the position in Green Bay. For redraft leagues, he is not worth a roster spot.
