49ers sign KhaDarel Hodge as WR depth
The San Francisco 49ers signed WR KhaDarel Hodge and DL Ogbo Okoronkwo to one-year deals Wednesday, per Adam Schefter. DL Kevin Givens and DL Cameron Sample were waived to make roster room.
Hodge, 31, is a 6-foot-2 outside receiver who entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He spent four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons (2022-2025), two of them under 49ers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. His production has dropped sharply in recent years: 3 catches for 31 yards in 12 games in 2025. He carries 67 career catches, 1,026 yards, and 2 touchdowns across eight seasons. San Francisco's receiving corps has been banged up early in training camp, and Hodge gives the team a healthy veteran body with special teams experience.
Okoronkwo, also 31, is a rotational edge rusher who tore his triceps in his only game with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025. The 49ers worked him out the previous Sunday before signing him Wednesday. He previously played under Morris with the Rams and brings pass-rush depth to a group that has dealt with injuries at the position.
What this means for your roster
Hodge has no fantasy value in redraft formats. He would need multiple injuries ahead of him on the depth chart to see meaningful targets. Okoronkwo is a non-factor outside of deep IDP leagues, and even there his role projects as rotational at best coming off a torn triceps. Neither waived player had fantasy relevance. Nothing here moves the needle on the 49ers' skill position outlook.
