Outside linebacker Za'Darius Smith is signing with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The terms beyond contract length were not disclosed.

Fantasy impact

Smith is a pass rusher, so he does not carry fantasy value in standard redraft or PPR formats. If Atlanta's defense gets stronger at the edge, it can affect how opposing offenses game-plan and may nudge opposing quarterbacks and skill players down in favorable matchup grades. That is a secondary consideration at best, not a waiver wire move.

If you roster any Falcons IDP players, or play in a format that scores sacks, Smith is worth adding if he is available.
