Teddy Bridgewater placed on Lions reserved-retired list

Lions HC Dan Campbell announced that backup QB Teddy Bridgewater is stepping away from the team and has been placed on the reserved-retired list, per Adam Schefter.

Bridgewater had re-signed with Detroit for 2026 in what was his third stint with the team. He was competing for the backup quarterback role behind starter Jared Goff.

How the Lions addressed the backup QB spot

Detroit has signed veteran QB Josh Dobbs to a one-year deal worth $1.425 million with $475k fully guaranteed, sources tell Schefter and Mike Garafolo. Dobbs replaces Bridgewater as the primary backup option behind Goff.

The contract is a significant commitment to Dobbs in the No. 2 role. In redraft, Goff's situation remains unchanged. In dynasty, Dobbs is worth monitoring but holds little upside behind an established starter.
