Stefon Diggs Says No WR2 in the NFL Is Better Than Him
Diggs Makes His Case
Free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs is not sitting quietly while waiting for his phone to ring. In a video posted to his YouTube channel, the 32-year-old made a bold declaration while training to stay in peak shape.
"My opinion, I can compete with anybody. But take those as your ones, right? You can't name a number two better than me. There's not a number two on a team. Let's presumably give people the credit and just say, 'Okay, you want to take the number one spot away?' Name your number two receiver right now, and tell me how much he makes, and then my last question is: Is he better than me?"
Diggs said he would concede seven receivers rank as true No. 1 targets. By his own math, that makes him no worse than the eighth-best receiver in the NFL.
Why He Is Still Available
Diggs became a free agent in March when New England released him to clear $26.5 million in cap space. The Patriots traded for A.J. Brown and signed Romeo Doubs to fill out their receiving corps, leaving Diggs without a team.
He is not an obvious cut candidate. Diggs put up 1,013 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns in 17 games during the 2025 season and played in the Super Bowl. A receiver doing that and still sitting unsigned two weeks before training camp is genuinely unusual.
Where He Could Land
Several teams have been connected to Diggs:
- Kansas City Chiefs -- Considered a frontrunner. The Chiefs have $13.2 million in unused cap space and a Patrick Mahomes-driven passing attack. Diggs would slot in as WR2 immediately.
- Washington Commanders -- Diggs would pair with Terry McLaurin and upgrade a WR2 spot currently projected to go to Luke McCaffrey.
- New Orleans Saints -- Another option in the mix.
- Atlanta Falcons -- Beyond Drake London, Atlanta is working with a wide receiver committee. Diggs would be an automatic top target for either Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa.
