Myles Garrett lower body soreness: what we know
Myles Garrett, DE, Los Angeles Rams, has sat out three straight training camp practices with lower body soreness, and HC Sean McVay said Sunday he is expected to miss Monday as well, making it four consecutive missed sessions.
McVay kept it brief: "Nothing to worry about, so we're erring on the side of being smart with him." He added that the team will evaluate Garrett after a Tuesday off day and expects him to "be ready to go in the next block."
No specific body part has been named beyond "lower half."
How concerned should IDP managers be?
Not much, based on what McVay said. The Rams gave up Jared Verse, a 2027 first-rounder, a 2028 second-rounder, and a 2029 third-rounder to acquire Garrett in a June 2025 trade. They are not going to push a player of that cost through camp soreness unnecessarily.
Garrett is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year and led the league with 23 sacks last season. He is the top IDP pass rusher in any format. Nothing about McVay's comments suggests a structural issue.
What to do on your roster
Hold. This is a maintenance situation through the first practice block of camp. If Garrett misses significant preseason time or the team's language changes after Tuesday's evaluation, that is worth reassessing. For now, there is nothing here that changes his status as the premier IDP edge rusher heading into 2025.
