De'Zhaun Stribling hamstring tightness: what happened
San Francisco 49ers rookie WR De'Zhaun Stribling sat out practice with hamstring tightness, Adam Schefter reported. The team is calling it tightness for now, but it is worth monitoring given how quickly hamstring issues can escalate.
Stribling was a second-round pick (33rd overall) in the 2026 NFL Draft and signed his rookie contract on May 8. He had been turning heads early in camp, making catches for sizable gains while Pearsall and Kirk were unavailable.
How this affects the 49ers WR depth chart
The 49ers receiver room was already thin before Stribling's absence. Ricky Pearsall (knee swelling) and Christian Kirk (calf strain) have both missed practice. Stribling stepping into a larger role made sense in that context, so his own hamstring issue compounds an already fragile situation.
Should you stash Stribling on your roster?
In dynasty formats, Stribling already had appeal as a Brock Purdy target in a pass-first offense. The hamstring tightness is a yellow flag, not necessarily a red one, but hamstring injuries in training camp can linger. If he clears quickly and returns to practice, his opportunity in this depleted WR room is real. In redraft leagues he is a deep stash for now, worth monitoring before spending a waiver claim.
Watch his practice participation over the next few days. Full practice return keeps his upside intact. A DNP that extends into the week ahead changes the calculus.
