Lions sign TE Nick Muse, release WR Tarik Black
The Detroit Lions signed TE Nick Muse and released WR Tarik Black, per Adam Schefter. Both are fringe roster moves with no fantasy relevance.
What Muse means for the TE depth chart
Nick Muse is a 2022 seventh-round pick out of South Carolina who has bounced through the Vikings, Cardinals, Rams, Eagles, and Jets without sticking. He has one career regular-season reception. The Lions had previously given him a tryout, so there was some familiarity before the signing.
Sam LaPorta, TE for Detroit, remains the only Lion at that position worth owning in any format. Muse is a depth body, likely competing for a practice squad spot.
What Black's release means for Detroit's WR room
Tarik Black is an undrafted receiver out of Michigan who most recently played for the Louisville Kings in the UFL. The Lions signed him in June 2026 and have now cut him. He could not crack a depth chart that starts with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.
Black's release is a non-event for fantasy. There is no target share to chase here.
Roster move takeaway
Ignore both moves for fantasy purposes. LaPorta's role at TE is unchanged, and the Lions' top WR spots are settled. Nothing to do on the waiver wire.
