Tua Tagovailoa named Falcons starting QB for Week 1

Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Atlanta Falcons, has been named the team's starting quarterback for next Sunday's regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kevin Stefanski confirmed the depth chart to reporters.

Cooper Rush will serve as the backup. Michael Penix Jr., who tore his ACL last November and wasn't cleared for 11-on-11 work until August 22, will be inactive Sunday because he is not physically ready.
