Arnold Visits Texans, More Visits Coming
Free agent cornerback Terrion Arnold took a physical with the Houston Texans on Thursday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Arnold also has two additional team visits lined up for next week as he works toward securing a new NFL deal.
Arnold's agent, Nicole Lynn, testified in a Florida court on Friday that four teams have expressed interest in signing her client: the Texans, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, and Seattle Seahawks. Lynn said there is a "very good likelihood" Arnold gets signed within 45 days.
Background on His Release
The Detroit Lions released Arnold on June 29, 2026, after he turned himself in on eight felony charges -- four counts of kidnapping and four counts of robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon. Prosecutors allege Arnold orchestrated the abduction and beating of three men he suspected of stealing luxury goods and cash from him in Tampa back in February 2026. Each charge carries a potential life sentence.
Arnold cleared waivers unclaimed on July 6 and is currently under home confinement in Tallahassee, Florida, out on $1 million bond. A Florida judge denied a prosecution request to place an ankle monitor on him on Friday, though he may only leave his home for work- or attorney-related purposes.
He had two years and roughly $4.8 million remaining on his four-year, $14.3 million rookie deal when the Lions cut him.
Fantasy Angle
Arnold is a cornerback, so he carries no value in standard fantasy formats. IDP players can keep an eye on him, but his legal situation and the below-average PFF grade he posted in 2025 (52.6, ranking 97th out of 114 qualified CBs) before a shoulder injury ended his season after eight games make him a risky add even there.
The more relevant fantasy question is destination. If Arnold lands with the Texans, he would slot into a secondary covering one of the league's better receiving corps. Texans wideouts like Nico Collins and Tank Dell could see a more competitive corner across from them in practice and in games, though any impact on their target share would depend heavily on where Arnold fits in Houston's depth chart.
Any signing will almost certainly be a low-cost, high-risk move given the ongoing criminal proceedings. Nothing is done yet, but the Texans physical and the additional visits next week suggest real momentum toward a deal.
