Micah Parsons injury update: what he said
Micah Parsons (EDGE, Green Bay Packers) said Tuesday, July 29, that a Week 6 return from his torn left ACL is 'I think it's very realistic,' per ESPN's Adam Schefter and Rob Demovsky. That's the most optimistic public timeline Parsons has offered since tearing his left ACL on December 14, 2025, against the Denver Broncos.
He also suffered a meniscus injury that required a separate procedure. Surgery followed on December 29-30, 2025.
Why Week 6 is best case, not a guarantee
Parsons opened 2026 training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, which was expected. The Packers have a 9-month no-football rule after ACL tears, putting his earliest possible practice return around Week 4 preparations, roughly September 30. The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, who covers the Packers, described Week 6 as the 'best-case scenario' and noted Parsons would still need a couple of weeks to ramp up after that first practice.
Parsons' brother, Terrence Parsons Jr., said the team is taking a 'patient approach' and suggested he won't return before Week 8. Parsons himself said in June that his goal was always to be available for the playoffs, not to rush back and risk reinjury.
The Week 6 matchup context
Week 6 is Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field. Parsons was traded from Dallas to Green Bay before the 2025 season in a deal involving Kenny Clark and two first-round picks, then signed a four-year, $188 million contract. The revenge-game narrative is obvious, and if he's healthy enough to play, the motivation is there.
In the only prior matchup against Dallas in 2025 (a 40-40 tie in Week 4), Parsons recorded one sack and two quarterback hits on Dak Prescott.
Fantasy roster management
Do not count on Parsons for Weeks 1 through 4; he cannot play those games. Week 5 is also almost certainly off the table given the ramp-up time required after his first practice. Week 6 is possible but not confirmed, and Week 8 is a realistic outcome.
In his absence, Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness, and Kingsley Enagbare are the Packers pass rushers worth monitoring for edge rushing production and sack upside.
For dynasty and deep redraft managers, Parsons finished the 2025 season with 12.5 sacks and First-Team All-Pro honors before the injury. His ceiling when healthy is unchanged. The question is simply which week he gets there. Build your early-season lineup around players who will actually be on the field, and pencil Parsons in as a best-ball asset or a Week 6-plus streamer depending on how his ramp-up goes.
