Kyle Trask expected to join Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are expected to add quarterback Kyle Trask after Haynes King suffered a hamstring injury, per a league source cited by @mike_e_kaye and retweeted by Adam Schefter. Trask worked out for the team last week and has a prior connection to head coach Dave Canales, who coached him in Tampa Bay in 2023.

King suffered the hamstring injury during the Panthers' 33-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals and is considered week-to-week, per reports citing The Athletic's Joe Person.

What the Panthers' QB depth chart looks like now

With King banged up, Carolina's quarterback room currently has Bryce Young as the starter and Kenny Pickett backing him up. Trask, if added, would slot in as the third quarterback. A corresponding roster move is still needed to finalize the transaction.

Trask entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers. He was released by Tampa Bay in August 2025 and later spent time on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad. He also had a workout with the Saints before drawing interest from Carolina.
