Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts agreed to a two-year, $44 million contract extension worth up to $47 million, with $39 million guaranteed. Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter reported the deal. Taylor's agent Malki Kawa of First Round Management negotiated the contract.

This is reportedly the largest third contract ever for a running back. Taylor, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, now has long-term security in Indianapolis.

What the recent numbers say

Over the last two seasons, Taylor has 626 carries, 3,026 rushing yards, and 32 total touchdowns. Schefter also noted Taylor scored 20 touchdowns in his most recent season alone. That workload and production put him in the conversation for the best RB in the league right now.

He did not miss a game last season after missing seven games across the previous two years, which addresses the durability concern that had followed him.
