McCoy Getting His Rookie Deal Done

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jermod McCoy plans to sign his four-year rookie contract, according to ESPN's Jeff Fowler, amplified by Adam Schefter. Raiders rookies report Thursday, so McCoy is getting this wrapped up right on time.

Per Spotrac projections, the deal is worth approximately $5,549,727 with a signing bonus of around $1,304,727. That is more than $10 million less than what McCoy would have earned as a first-round pick, which is exactly where most teams had him graded before the injury concerns surfaced.

Why He Fell to the Fourth Round

McCoy was selected 101st overall to open Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. The Raiders actually traded up with the Buffalo Bills to grab him. Most draft analysts had McCoy as a first-round talent, but he slid due to concerns about a possible second surgery on the torn ACL he suffered in early 2025 while at Tennessee. He missed the entire 2025 season.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero noted ahead of the draft that "the concern is about a bone plug that was used to repair a cartilage defect in his knee." McCoy did his best to put those concerns to rest at Tennessee's pro day in March, looking strong and quick by all accounts.

At 6-foot-1 and 188 pounds, McCoy brings a solid college resume: 25 games between Oregon State and Tennessee, 75 tackles, six interceptions, and 16 pass breakups.

Camp Outlook

McCoy has been on a workload management program during OTAs and has not always been on the field. But Raiders insider Vinny Bonsignore reported that the knee has no new issues and that McCoy is on track for full participation in training camp. Las Vegas has not ruled out a starting role for him in 2026.

Fantasy Takeaway

McCoy's fantasy value is strictly IDP. There is real upside here if he is healthy and earns a starting job, but the injury history and the fact that he is just now getting healthy makes him a risky add in any format. Skip him entirely in redraft leagues. In dynasty, he is worth a stash at a reasonable price given the first-round talent at a position that carries IDP scoring potential. Do not reach for him. Monitor his training camp participation closely before committing any meaningful roster capital.
