Jedrick Wills takes first-team LT reps at Bears camp
By Michael
Jedrick Wills, OT, Chicago Bears, is getting first-team left tackle reps in a practice with red zone emphasis across 1-on-1s and 11-on-11s, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.
The Bears have a crowded LT competition. Multiple training camp reports confirm Braxton Jones, Wills, Kiran Amegadjie, and Theo Benedet have all rotated at the position this camp, with Jones described as the favorite. Bears head coach Ben Johnson has called Wills "firmly in the mix," per the Chicago Sun-Times.
What about Burden and Stevenson?
Luther Burden III, WR, Chicago Bears, and Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Chicago Bears, got tangled during their final 1-on-1 red zone rep and both fell awkwardly, per Cronin. Stevenson stayed at practice after a trainer attended to him. The post text is truncated and it is unclear whether Burden remained at practice or showed any sign of injury.
Burden already missed the start of camp with a hamstring issue he suffered in spring OTAs, so any practice availability concern is worth monitoring. If he misses time, his role in a Bears offense that already has questions at receiver becomes thinner for early-season fantasy purposes.
What to watch
Wills getting first-team reps matters to the extent that the LT competition affects Caleb Williams' protection and the Bears' run game. For fantasy purposes, the Burden situation is the more immediate thing to track. Check for an injury report before locking in any Bears skill players.
