Jalon Walker feared to have torn his ACL

Atlanta Falcons edge rusher Jalon Walker (LB, ATL) is feared to have torn his ACL after going down during Tuesday's practice on a pass rush play, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Steve Wyche. Walker was carted off the field unable to bear weight on his left leg. Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski ended practice roughly 45 minutes early after the injury.

An MRI will confirm the severity. No official team statement has been issued yet.

What this means for Walker's 2026 season

If the ACL tear is confirmed, Walker's 2026 campaign is over before a regular season snap. The Falcons took him 15th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft and he finished his rookie year with 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He ranked inside the top 10 among edge rushers in run defense grade per PFF and was considered a breakout candidate heading into Year 2.

Atlanta had also planned to expand his role this season, giving him more snaps at inside linebacker, a position he played at Georgia.

The Falcons' pass rush picture gets messy

Walker's injury compounds a problem Atlanta already had. His fellow first-round pick from 2025, edge rusher James Pearce Jr. (LB, ATL), the No. 25 pick, is facing a possible suspension stemming from a domestic violence arrest this offseason. If both players miss time, the Falcons enter 2026 without either of their 2025 first-round pass rushers available from the start.

Fantasy roster takeaway

Walker was a dynasty stash with real 2026 upside. A confirmed ACL tear wipes that out entirely for this season. Drop him in redraft leagues now. In dynasty, hold and wait for MRI confirmation, but prepare for a year-long absence. Monitor the Falcons' depth chart at edge for any beneficiaries who might inherit a larger pass rush role.
