Jalon Walker ACL tear feared after training camp practice
Jalon Walker, LB/DE for the Atlanta Falcons, went down during an 11-on-11 drill at training camp in Flowery Branch, GA and is feared to have suffered a torn ACL, per ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Walker was carted off the field. The team ended practice early, and multiple teammates visibly reacted to the scene.
An MRI is scheduled to confirm the diagnosis. As of this report, results are still pending.
What this means for the Falcons defense
Walker was a first-round pick in 2025 (15th overall out of Georgia) and finished his rookie season with 5.5 sacks, second among all rookies that year. He was entering year two as one-half of a pass-rush tandem with James Pearce Jr., who led all rookies with 10.5 sacks in 2025.
The problem is Pearce is also currently working back from his own situation, practicing with depth groups in camp. Losing Walker on top of that leaves Atlanta's edge rotation looking thin.
The Falcons do have other options: Samson Ebukam, Azeez Ojulari, Bralen Trice, and Cameron Thomas are all in camp. None of them carries the same upside or role Walker was expected to fill.
Fantasy impact: IDP and team defense
For IDP managers, Walker is off your roster if the ACL is confirmed. He will almost certainly miss all of 2026. Ojulari and Ebukam move up the Atlanta depth chart and are worth monitoring as MRI results come in.
For team defense streamers in redraft, the Falcons' pass-rush outlook takes a real hit here. Walker and Pearce were the reason Atlanta's defense had upside in 2026 projections. With both questionable to start the year healthy, temper expectations accordingly until Pearce's status is clearer.
Watch for the MRI results. Confirmed ACL means Walker is done for the year and the Falcons' edge depth becomes a genuine concern from Week 1.
