Packers Lock Up Devonte Wyatt on Big Extension
The Green Bay Packers have agreed to a 3-year, $57 million contract extension with defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt, per Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter. The deal includes a $20 million signing bonus and was negotiated by Win Sports Group.
The extension comes out to $19 million per year in average annual value, landing right in line with the high end of the interior DL market. At least 13 defensive tackles were already on deals worth $20M-plus per season heading into this agreement.
Why This Deal Makes Sense for Both Sides
Wyatt was already set to earn $12.938 million fully guaranteed in 2026 on his fifth-year option. This extension restructures that cap hit and commits Green Bay to him long-term, which is notable given how much the Packers' defensive line has shifted.
In August 2025, Green Bay traded three-time Pro Bowl DT Kenny Clark to Dallas as part of the blockbuster deal that brought edge rusher Micah Parsons to town. That move immediately elevated Wyatt's role to unquestioned No. 1 DT. With Parsons himself recovering from an ACL tear and not expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 season, Wyatt is the centerpiece of the Packers' defensive front heading into camp.
GM Brian Gutekunst had made his intentions clear, saying publicly that "when he's out there, he's very, very impactful."
2025 Performance
Wyatt's 2025 season ended early when he suffered a fractured fibula and torn ankle ligaments against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. In 10 games before the injury, he posted 27 tackles, 4.0 sacks, and 22 total pressures. He was on pace for five-plus sacks for the third consecutive season. His PFF pass-rush grade of 71.4 ranked 29th among qualified interior defensive linemen.
Fantasy Football Angle
Wyatt has zero relevance in traditional fantasy formats. In IDP leagues, however, this is meaningful news.
His production profile -- 22 pressures and 4 sacks in just 10 games -- makes him a high-upside DT in IDP scoring. This extension confirms he is the featured starter on the Packers' D-line with no competition for snaps at the top of the depth chart. With Clark gone and Parsons sidelined early, expect Wyatt to handle a heavy workload in 2026, which inflates his IDP ceiling.
The durability concern is real, though. He dealt with ankle issues in the 2025 preseason before the more serious Thanksgiving fracture. Fantasy managers in IDP leagues should factor that injury history into their draft valuations.
