Bengals Place DT B.J. Hill on Active/PUP List with Foot Injury
Bengals Place B.J. Hill on Active/PUP List
The Cincinnati Bengals placed veteran defensive tackle B.J. Hill on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list at the start of 2026 training camp, per Adam Schefter. The designation stems from a foot injury that kept Hill out of most of the offseason program.
Hill was spotted in a walking boot during voluntary workouts in May. Head coach Zac Taylor has been straightforward about the plan: "B.J. is not going to take a ton of training camp reps." The coaching staff may skip Hill during the preseason entirely to avoid any setback with the foot.
What the Active/PUP List Means
Players on the Active/PUP list cannot practice but can attend meetings and use team facilities. The designation does not automatically mean a player misses regular season time. In Hill's case, the Bengals have signaled they expect him ready for Week 1 at the very latest.
Bengals DL Context
Hill is not the only piece of a retooled Bengals interior. Cincinnati traded the 10th overall pick to the Giants this offseason for three-time Pro Bowl DT Dexter Lawrence II. The projected starting front for 2026 includes Lawrence, Jonathan Allen, and Hill once healthy.
With Hill limited in camp, younger linemen Kris Jenkins Jr. and McKinnley Jackson -- both 2024 draft picks -- will see extra reps.
Fantasy Takeaway
Hill has almost no relevance in standard fantasy formats. In IDP leagues he is worth keeping an eye on, but the team's messaging suggests this is a load-management situation rather than a serious concern. Monitor his progress through camp, but do not panic over Week 1 availability just yet.
