Jeffery Simmons throws a punch at Titans practice

Jeffery Simmons, DT for the Tennessee Titans, threw a punch early in a team drill Tuesday morning at training camp and was pulled from the main session. He spent the rest of practice working on a side field with a strength coach, according to Adam Schefter citing the AP.

This comes one day after Simmons was involved in a separate scuffle with quarterback Cam Ward during a red-zone drill. In that Monday incident, Ward threw a touchdown to Calvin Ridley, WR, Tennessee Titans, then shoved Simmons in the back and mimicked his celebration while wearing a red non-contact jersey. Simmons responded by shoving Ward in the facemask. The offensive line rushed in, a scuffle broke out, and Simmons was escorted off the field.

Head coach Robert Saleh had said around the start of padded practices that physicality was acceptable as long as no punches were thrown. Tuesday's punch crosses that line.

Will Simmons face discipline?

No suspension or formal discipline has been announced. The side-field session appears to be an in-practice consequence rather than a formal roster move. That said, two escalating incidents in back-to-back days are worth watching. League or team discipline is possible.

Ward described the altercations as "what we needed" for team chemistry and called it brothers fighting. Simmons said tempers were blown out of proportion by outsiders.

What this means for your roster

Simmons is a DT and does not factor into standard fantasy formats. IDP managers who carry him should keep an eye on any discipline that could affect his availability. Ward and Ridley both appear healthy and unaffected by the camp drama, so no changes needed there.
